]]>Beautiful Pinup Letty (@MissLettyLou) got together with Chris Lopez (@8thimpulse) to shoot the Suavecita Winter Apparel. This duo has shot together in the past and are the perfect team to take over Phoenix, Arizona.Â
Â
]]>It may be winter but did we really see a true change in season? Not really! This winter apparel collection is a mix of six prints on short sleeve tees. The 'Papel Picado' tees are a representation of Mexican folk art. These banners were especially used on altars during Dia De Los Muertos. The 'Mexicana' as well as 'Santa Ana Girl' tees are two beautiful latina pinups in traditional off the shoulder dresses. The 'Mouth Breather' tee took a strange turn; the bold red letters will have you seeing things in another dimension. Lastly, the 'Dolores' tee is inspiration from silent films based out of the 1920s.Â

Â
]]>Whether youâre a DIY or salon girl, here are some basic tips to achieve colorful hair. Before beginning the process, you must make sure youâre at a level 10. Level 1 is black, Level 6 is dirty blonde and level 10 is platinum. If youâve chosen a color such as, lilac, cotton candy pink, silver, or any light pastel shade, the level 10 rule is crucial! If your hair doesnât reach the shade you chose, your hair was still too dark. Make sure to have a bleach kit containing lightener and a higher leveled developer. To create an all-over color, youâll have to work on your mid band and ends first. (Because itâs older hair and has more damage/color on it.) Avoid your roots till you feel the mid band and ends have reached your desired goal. (The roots tend to lift the fastest due to body heat.) Be cautious of your hairâs integrity the entire time. Lightener is not very gentle on our hair, especially when overdone. If you go to a salon, please ask your stylist about OLAPLEX. OLAPLEX is a hair bonder that gets mixed in with your lightener or color to prevent breakage. Otherwise, fully saturate your hair with lightener to keep a consistent level. Wrapping your hair in foil will keep your highlights clean and will make your process go faster. (Foil creates heat.)
If going an all-over color isnât the route youâd like to go and are wanting something subtler, youâll want to create the Balayage technique. Whatâs so fun about Balayage is that thereâs no right or wrong to it. Pick up a piece that you want lightened and lighten! Some people prefer baby highlights, the ends or simply just the fringe. This is completely free styled! You choose where you want to see your pop of color and there it will be. If youâve chosen a darker shade such as a dark blue, dark purple, dark green etc. you can get away with being at a level 8 or 9. Itâs still highly recommended to shoot for a level 10 for BEST results. The Suavecita Semi-Permanent hair color line will vary from rainbow shades and pastels including the same directions and procedure to achieve bright and beautiful hair color. Follow our Instagram for updates on release dates, swatches and more!
Brooke Benton, also known as @Brookebent on Instagram, is a blonding expert from Los Angeles, California. Over the summer, Brooke created a beautiful cotton candy dream. She gave the client a Neon Fuchsia/magenta root melting into a pastel pink. The hair was cut into a blunt and choppy A-line then styled with a subtle beachy wave.
Â
Â
Elissa Wolfe is a Vancouver Balayage specialist. Her clients trust her for these fun and punky shades! Her work varies from bright lime greens to soft silvers. A color you donât see often is a forest green shade, which is why it makes this color so admirable! @ElissaWolfe gave her extremely loyal client @LilMoonChildd a dark blue root that fused into a mysterious dark green. Great color combination!
Â
Â
Blending properly during a balayage service is imperative. Kate Eissinger (@KatelovesHair) puts her skills to the test by working with multiple shades! This Las Vegas colorist created a Mai Tai mermaid hair that is out of this world! Here, she used four shades to create this phenomenal warm sunset dream. For the base, she used a dark burgundy and feathered down into a pomegranate shade. As the hair got lighter, the next color was a rich copper that bled into light copper/blonde ends. Mixing so many shades together ainât easy; BRAVO Kate!
Â
Â
Highlighting Queen, Kelly Massias knows how to give her hair babes perfectly sun kissed beachy highlights. This Miami stylist created a soft pink lemonade feel for a client back in October. @KellyMassiasHair touched up her roots with a classic highlighting technique which left the hair blonde throughout. Whatâs to love here is the subtly of the pink on the ends. The pale blonde highlights ended around shoulder length and came in this blush pop of color! Â As this pink washes out, itâll become lighter and even gentler for this blonde. Kelly finished the look with some beautiful mermaid waves.

As we get closer to this very special day, tons of photos of makeup, hair, nails, and art have been submitted to us on how they used their Suavecito/Suavecita products to create their unique costumes. Let this be a time to show us your Halloween look for this year! Â Be sure to use the #suavecitopomade and #suavecitapomade hashtags for a chance to be featured!Â
We reached out to her to see if we could spend the day with her doing some of her favorite things in her hometown. What we admire so much about her is that she mixes original fashion with whatâs modern now. She normally wears high waisted dickies with her Nike Cortez sneakers and a trendy top. Her hair and makeup always look absolutely impeccable. From her flawless skin, to her winged liner and dark lined lips, she is extremely unique.
Andrea had expressed her love for old cars, which only made sense that we contact our friends from KLIQUE OC Car Club to let us borrow one of their best oldies for this shoot. The car used for the shoot was a light blue 1975 Chevy Caprice low rider that Andrea fell in love with! What turned out to be a wonderful surprise was that Andrea brought her cousin Melissa to accompany her. The two cousins are actually quite close and try to spend as much time together as possible. Once we got some shots of the ladies in and out of the car, we brought over our furry friend Rocky the Pit to jump in some of the pictures. Andrea loves dogs and coincidentally owns a Pitbull of her own.
Next stop was her favorite taco truck âTacos Yaquiâ located in Santa Anaâs neighborhoods on Broadway and Edinger Avenue. We indulged in some of their classics like the tacos âYaquiâ and tacos âPerrones.â To wash down the deliciousness, we drove over to Beer Land up the street to pick up a few cold ones. Melissa invited us over to hang out at her place and drink the 40s at her Santa Ana home. We hung out on lawn chairs, listened to funk, cracked jokes and enjoyed the beers on a hot So Cal day.
Our last stop was Memorial Park located on Flower Street. Andrea has a ton of memories growing up and hanging out at that park with friends and family. Whatâs great about this park is that there are quite a few fruit stands/carts that vend all sorts of OG snacks. These little carts offer fresh fruit, raspados, tostilocos and mangonadas. Andrea chose some fresh fruit with lime juice and Tajin chili powder. Being Hispanic means squeezing lime and chile on anything to make it that much better! Where would we be without all these scrumptious classic Mexican snacks?
After a day of fun, our time with Andrea was coming to an end. It was a pleasure hanging out with both her and her cousin and we thank them for showing us around. They both really showed what a day in Santa Ana is. Andrea is extremely proud of her culture and embraces it daily. With the most humbling attitude, weâre so happy to have had Andrea represent how much love she has for the city of Santa Ana.

9. Use the Suavecita Hairspray to mist your overall hairstyle.
10. Scoop out a bit of Suavecita Pomade and rub it into fingers. Go over any fly-aways or hairline to smooth.
We couldnât be any more excited of the work she has done and that hair, amazing! We want to extend a big thanks to Cassiee for the support! She did a great job. Be sure to follow her Instagram and Youtube channel. They are both amazing!
The âRoll O Vendâ trailer was a pop up bar trailer originally used by the Coca-Cola company in the late fifties through the early sixties. It was designed to be able to provide customers with great service, great products and to stand out from the crowd. It was set-up around the country at different venues where a cool drink and maybe a snack or two was needed. The âRoll O Vendâ is a non-powered trailer with a pop top roof that closed when not in use and hand cranked into an open position when parked. It was a unique design that hasnât seen itâs equal in the years since.
With help from a great friend to Suavecito Pomade, James Hicks, we rescued this vintage trailer from a Kentucky estate sale. It was a 1961 âRoll O Vendâ trailer. We asked James to check it out and purchase the trailer for us if it got his approval. After he gave it a once over and a thumbs up it was then shipped to us here in Santa Ana, California.
Once we received it we decided it was going to take some work before we could use it proudly during our shows. We sent it to David at Little Shop of Kustoms for a strip and paint but it ended up being a full nut and bolt restoration. David did a great job and it came back to us looking brand new. The crew over there painted it with our signature Suavecito white and pink.
For the final touch we enlisted help from our buddy Matt Egan. He detailed the Suavecita logos on and pampered it for itâs new life. Our trailer will be stocked with Suavecita products and parked at shows around the country.
Be sure to check out its first public appearance on Labor Day weekend this year the 3rd of September for the Ventura Nationals! More details on the show can be found here. We hope to see you there!Â

Summer is the season that brings friends together and especially if it means spending a day at the beach! We had a fun day out in Laguna Beach with the new T-shirt styles for our Summer apparel collection in sunny California for a photo shoot. Suavecito had help from two male models and two female models for Suavecita. Laguna Beach has it all with boardwalk fun, shops, good eats and friendly residents. We packed up some bikes, brought some lovely dogs and headed out in a vintage 1956 Chevy Wagon.
Upon arrival, the models strolled through downtown to window shop and take their pups for a walk. They came across the most adorable dog store where their furry friends got to pick out new chew toys and some yummy treats. From there the ladies found a small flower shop where they got to enjoy beautiful aromas of blossoming flowers.
For lunch, we went to Rasta Taco and filled up with some amazing carne asada tacos and ice cold soda pop. We captured the models engaging with each other and enjoying the Southern Californian warmth with a bit of a salty ocean breeze. We then headed over to the boardwalk where the models jumped on some vintage bicycles and rode around in their new trendy t-shirts.
With such beautiful weather the ladies laid out on their pink beach towels and blocked the sun using their Suavecita Parasols. As they looked out to the water and caught a glimpse of a few surfers we captured spontaneous shots of the ladies giggling.
Unfortunately, the day was coming to an end and there was one more location to shoot at. The models were captured in their last wardrobe change and hung out at picnic tables with an amazing ocean view. This was a special location because it was surrounded by palm trees and a tropical scene. This summerâs collection is all about bringing back vintage inspired tees with some great Tiki inspired artwork. Check out all the apparel on Suavecitopomade.com.

]]>Day of the Dead has become a highly celebrated holiday today in the United States. What started with an origin in Mexico has now spilled over in the U.S. and is gaining popularity with many communities. Day of the Dead or Dia De Los Muertos in Spanish is a public holiday to honor beloved family or friends who are deceased. The holiday is typically celebrated from October 31st to November 2nd. Deeply rooted traditions celebrate the continuous cycle of life and therefore, it is not a mournful commemoration but a colorful and celebratory one. People visit cemeteries and build private or public altars with photo and memorabilia to encourage the souls to visit.
This time of year is a favorite for many. Creativity flourishes and you will see makeup and clothing finely detailed and intricately designed for the event. With vibrant colors and exquisite makeup it is time to express yourself through your style. Here at Suavecito Pomade headquarters we are always excited for this time of year. We look forward to participating in the events and seeing the different costumes and styles come out. Suavecito and Suavecita will be having their own booths at the Dia De Los Muertos Event in Uptown Whittier and Viva la Vida in Santa Ana. As always we look forward to seeing you at these events! Flyers will be posted on both Instagram accounts @Suavecitopomade and @Suavecitapomade.

Thereâs nothing more adventurous than the classic road trip with one of your best buds. We reached out to Jasmin and Thalia to spend the day with us and road trip to Joshua Tree, California while taking candid photos of them. Both ladies know each other pretty well which made things much more natural for them. Our vision was to capture their way up there; shop, have a picnic, go to Pioneer Town and explore the well-known Joshua Tree Saloon.
The first few shots we got of them on the road were of the girls trying to map out where to go. After they established that the Joshua Tree Saloon was their first destination, Jasmin took photos of Thalia driving with a vintage Canon camera. The ladies rolled up in a â49 Ford Shoebox ready to explore the town. Both wore vintage two pieces that were floral and bright that truly made them stand out in the crowd. After finding some cool spots to shoot at around the Saloon, we all enjoyed some margaritas with our lunch.
With Ricochet Vintage Wears just around the corner, the girls were able to do what they do best, thrift shop! As Jasmin dug through a box of records, Thalia tried on a few pairs of shoes. Seeing the girls acting silly as they tried on ridiculous hats and big fur coats made it the perfect opportunity to capture them in their own element.
As we were about to leave the thrift shop, we found a patio where we set up a quick snack break for them. With the weather being almost ninety degrees, it was refreshing to sit under a big tree, set up a blanket and cool down with some pretty pink juice and mixed berries. Silly ladies giggled away as they fed each other strawberries and reminisced on great memories. Before cleaning up the picnic, Thalia noticed Jasmin had a few hairs of place, therefore, grabbed the Suavecita Firm Hold Hairspray to lock in her hairstyle.
Â
Â
Last stop of the day was Pioneer town. The entire strip is western themed with lots of wood, old fixtures, wagons and antique dĂŠcor. The sun was just setting as we arrived and were thrilled about these photos. The ladies had an outfit change and wore two new lipstick shades from the Suavecita âSâ Collection. Thalia wore STRUT and Jasmin wore SLAY. As they took a seat on a bench, a random kitty arrived on set and just wanted to become a part of this shoot with them.
Jasmin and Thalia proceeded to window shop throughout Pioneer town and peek through abandoned barns. As the trip was coming to an end, we asked the ladies to get some shots of them driving out of Joshua Tree. Jasmin waved goodbye to the desert as her and Thalia drove off into the sunset. Check out Jasmin and Thaliaâs Road Trip look book here.

]]>Suavecita Dry Shampoo is a great product for those on-the-go days where there really is no time to wash and blow dry...
Our Suavecita Dry Shampoo is a product that hit the shelves a little while ago and people are raving about it. It has quite a few uses and functions, which makes it a versatile product! Our dry shampoo consists of cornstarch to absorb oil, letting you go a day (or two) without washing your hair. Dry Shampoo coats your hair and makes it dry and matte by covering your hairâs natural oils. Ours comes in powdered form. The best feature about them is that the newest formulas also contain ingredients that add volume, thickness and texture.
The first way to use it is what itâs meant to be for; absorb your natural oils. Youâll want to sprinkle some throughout the hair only on the roots. By doing this you will notice how quickly itâll absorb the oils. If you massage it in with your fingertips, it stimulates the scalp and gives it a bit of a lift (volume). One of the best ways to create a fuller look is to flip your head upside down and sprinkle generously. If you to apply Suavecita Dry Shampoo all over the hair, including the ends, itâll add texture. With short hair, it creates a sassy, tousled look. If the hair is down and you want your curls to look piece-y and imperfect and keep them from forming together add it to your mid-band and ends.
Anytime you are creating an updo that involves backcombing, sprinkle some on the section you are working on and backcomb it to help lock in the tease. Also, to keep bobby pins from slipping out of your hair when doing a specialty style, drizzle some onto them to give them a grip. For all you ladies with front bangs, a great way to keep them from sticking to the oils on your forehead is to put some underneath the fringe. Suavecita Dry Shampoo is a great product for those on the go days where there really is no time to wash and blow dry. As many hairstylists never encourage you to wash your hair often (because itâll dry out your hair) using this product will give you that extra bit of time till that regular shampoo is needed.
]]>Â
Products needed:
Start by clipping away your bangs, youâll be styling those lastly. Next, in the crown area, prep your hair with some Volumizing Dry Shampoo to lock in your back combing. Using your back combing brush, take an inch section and tease it till it can stand a few feet high on its own. Repeat that until youâre almost to the occipital bone and spray generously with Strong Hairspray. Grab your back combing brush and start to lightly smooth the beehive.
You donât want to over-do it, otherwise youâll be brushing out everything you just created. Once you feel itâs at an appropriate height, spread some Suavecita Pomade in your hands and run it over the bump to smooth fly aways and tame frizz. As for the sides, gently pull everything back using your comb and pin the rest where the backcombing ends. If you use a hair scarf, donât worry about perfection, itâll be covering any unwanted hair. Finish off the sides with some Hairspray and Pomade if needed to smooth.
For the back youâll be creating a lazy version of a French twist. Grab the bunch as if you were going to put it in a ponytail, and twist it inward while still going up and secure with bobby pins. For the hair scarf, unfold it and take opposite corners and match them up to create a triangle. The ends will wrap around your head to meet at the front where youâll be making a bow. Use your bangs to give it a nice side swept look, or a voluminous suicide roll!
Tools needed:
The first step to this look is to have completely clean hair. After it is washed, spray with your heat protectant. Using your round brush and blow dryer, take sections as wide as the barrel of the brush and elevate as much as you can; elevation in a blow dry is key to volume. Note, this will be a good arm workout! Once your hair is fully dried, sprinkle some dry shampoo on the roots and massage it in with your fingertips to add fullness and give it that tousled or âbedheadâ look. Your hair will be sexy and shiny with a glamourous feel!
If your hair is not past the shoulders, it is suggested to use clip in extensions for extra length. Take vertical sections starting in the front. Start on the left side of your hair and curl two inch sections away from the face. Once left is finished, begin on the right side. You will still be wrapping away from the face but it will be going clockwise now. After the hair is completely curled, let it cool. Pump some serum and run through your fingers passing cheekbone level. Next, with the teasing comb, backcomb the crown area to add a bit more height. Spray with hairspray and let it sit again. Lastly, break up the curls using your fingers to give it a piecey feel. After this look is done, youâll be feeling like a renowned Victoriaâs Secret Angel! Mention @Suavecitapomade on your tutorials to have a chance to be reposted!
Bettie Page, an American modeling legend, became popular in the 1950âs for her pin-up pictures. Her biggest trademark was her beautiful hair which spanned just past her collar bones and was complimented by her short jet black bangs. Her bangs became so iconic that they inspired a style of their own and are commonly referred to as the âBettie Bangsâ. This tutorial is a step by step that will achieve this charming hairstyle.

She recently held a vintage hairstyling class in Burbank, Ca. The class was a step by step on three hairstyles. The first look was a 40âs inspired poodle updo, the second hairstyle was 50âs vintage waves and the final look was 60âs voluminous waves! She not only explained how to achieve these looks, but gave everyone a ton of product knowledge on all the Suavecita Pomade products. She showed the versatility and uses of each product and how they are all needed for these looks. The Suavecita Grooming Spray was the first product used to prep all of the hair. As it plays as a setting lotion, it will help hold the curl. The second product she applied was the Suavecita Argan Silkening Serum to smooth and tame some frizz. As she got to the end of the tutorial and began the finishing touches, she mixed the serum into the pomade to define and shape. She said she loved how the serum gave extra shine to the pomade and made molding much easier.
Tara is truly a vintage-styling inspiration to us all. Hairstyling is such a beautiful art that takes a ton of practice but is totally worth knowing! Along with being extremely knowledgeable, Tara is easy to understand and a total sweetheart. Check out more of her work on her Instagram @redpinupdoll!
A few tools needed for this look are:
1. A 1 ½âcurling wand
2. Sea Salt Spray
3. Firm Hairspray
4. Comb/clip
First thing youâll want is to have fresh clean hair that is dry for this look. Section your hair in half and
secure the top with a clip. Make sure to set you curling wand at a lower temperature since this will be a looser look. Take 2â sections and curl the middle of your hair. Itâs important that the ends stay a bit straight; leave the last two inches out on the ends. Everyoneâs length is different so youâll have to calculate the amount of inches down. If you have shoulder length, only curl the last two inches of your hair (leaving out the ends.) For someone will length past the elbows, start the curl at the last five inches, with two inches out on the ends. The objective is to have the mid-band be the curliest. Once youâre done with the bottom half, begin on the top. With the top youâll be wanting it just a tad tighter, add an inch of curl. Since the top tends to have more layers itâs important to start a little higher. This hairstyle looks best with a center parting, but a side part is okay as well. With your comb, break up any areas that look too curly. Spritz some Sea Salt Spray from a distance and scrunch the hair. It wonât be leaving it too hard or crunchy, just depositing what will be giving that extra curl. Lastly, spray some hairspray all over to ensure the look will hold for over two days. The more it falls out the better itâll look!
